The mission of Olde Worlde Theatre Company is to generate amusing and reflective theatre for people of all ages. Since being founded in February 2003 we have been supported by the Nashville TN area for many productions. In partnership with parents, we strive to reinforce positive values and responsible choices for children.
As a theater collective, we pool our creative talents to adapt fairy tales and other stories to entertain children from ages 5 to 95. Recent productions have adapted classic fairy tales such as Pinocchio, Snow White, Puss & Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, The Frog Prince, Rapunzel, The Pied Piper, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Three Little Pigs, Sleeping Beauty, and Thumbelina. The troupe consists of people with a variety of backgrounds including early childhood education, modern dance, ballroom dance, mime, experimental theater, parenting, art history, ballet, etc. Many talented children also lend their talents and energy to the troupe. A group created approach to writing and producing plays offers the troupe members many opportunities to stretch and grow in the craft. The absence of formal scripts allows everyone the opportunity to create a 'one of a kind' performance. Each individual performance often has it's own unique quality. And it is audience participation that brings an energy to complete the production. Our theatre "home" is at the Belcourt Theatre. As part of their Kid's Court series, we offer Saturday morning performances 3-4 times a year. Saturday afternoon performances are also offered to allow more opportunities for the entire family to experience the magic.
